Direct buy scam - what you need to know before you join!

Direct Buy is a club for home improvement and furnishings. Club currently has a remarkable number of over 400 000 members across the United States and Canada and over 30 Websites owned by them and used to sell products for home improvement at wholesale prices.The aim of this system is to gather a large number of club members to witch, in return for a members fee, they offer a possibility to purchase products directly from manufacturers. At Direct Buy you can find furniture, household appliances, home renovation materials, electronics and lighting, etc. Customers who are members of the club are not limited to just one or two manufacturers, but have at their disposal over 700 different product brands to choose from. Purchases can be done through a web page or by visiting the club directly.

Ok, after reading the first part explaining what is Direct Buy in the first place many of you might ask me what is the catch because this really sounds too good to be real. Is it really enough just to join some club and buy great and quality products for third of the retail price? Not so much!

There are many benefits that Direct buy club offers but as any other product or a service it has its own downsides as well. One of the biggest downsides is the members fee that costs almost 5.000 dollars for three years and later 190$ for seven more years! So if you do not intend to spend a significant amount of money it is not worth paying the fee.

When you attend their open house tour be prepared for 60 - 90 minutes of sales pitches and testimonials of satisfied members. During that time their staff will do its best to get you to sing in on the spot. You do not have the possibility to "sleep it over" or to advise with your family becouse they will offer you to join imediatelly or to lose the posibility forever. I must say that this kind of pressure raises red flags for me all over the place!

When we talk about their prices, they acctually can be significantly lower then retail prices but not for all items and the price they presente you does not include handeling fee that you will be obliged to pay to acctually get the goods you bought to your home.

To conclude - if you are remodeling your home from floor to roof it could be a good option to save some money, but if you plan to spend under 20.000 dollars the members fee will probably not be worth the savings you get.
